![]() Same-Type-Attack-Bonus, or STAB, is a 1.5x bonus multiplier Pokemon get when using a damaging move that's the same type as them. This is why it's best to have Pokemon know moves of its own typing. See each Type page for more information on their immunities, or refer to the chart below. Sand-Attack (a Ground move) can hit a Flying Pokemon, but Thunder Wave (an Electric move) cannot hit a Ground Pokemon. Types may not play a role when using Status Attacks. Electric-types do not affect Ground-types.Ground-types cannot touch Flying-types (unless a move is used to knock it out of the air or if you used a move like Gravity to force it down).Poison-types attacks cannot harm Steel-types (unless the attacking Pokemon has the Corrosion Ability).Normal- and Fighting-types cannot hit Ghost-types.There are also some types that are immune to certain Moves or Status Conditions. The game will tell you "It Doesn't Affect." if you come across an Immune type. The game will tell you when one type is weaker than another by saying "It's Not Very Effective." If battling a Pokemon you've battled before, the game will label if a move is "Not very effective."įinally, there are certain types of Pokemon completely immune to other types, meaning they receive no damage when hit by moves of that specific typing. For instance, Water-type Pokemon are resistant to Fire-type moves, meaning a Fire-type attack on a Water Pokemon will only cause half the damage. Most Pokemon are resistant to certain types and when they are hit by those types' attacks, they take only half (.5x) damage compared to neutral types. The game will tell you when one type is stronger than another by saying "It's Super Effective." If you encounter a Pokemon you've battled before, the game will label a move if it is "Super Effective" against it. However, Water-type Pokemon are weak against Electric-type moves, meaning an Electric-type move on a Water-type Pokemon will cause twice (2x) the damage. For example, an Electric-type move on a Normal-type Pokemon causes neutral damage (1x). ![]() Some types are stronger than others, dealing twice (2x) the amount of damage compared to neutral types. ![]() On the other hand, each move a Pokemon learns can only deal one kind of elemental damage from the 18 types. Types play a major role in a Pokemon's offense and defense, with every Pokemon made up of either one or two types. The left side of the chart is for the offense and the top of the chart is for the defense. The chart below contains all the Strengths, Weaknesses, and Effectiveness of all 18 different Types in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Play Pokemon Weaknesses, Strengths, and Effectiveness Type Chart
